About Christopher Getty

Christopher Getty serves as Mayor of the Village of Lyons, a historic community just outside of Chicago, originally incorporated in 1888 and home to nearly 11,000 residents and hundreds of businesses. As Mayor, he ensures that all laws and ordinances are being followed. He oversees more than 100 government employees and the Village’s board of trustees, which is comprised of eight individually elected officials. Christopher Getty also functions as the Supervisor of the Township of Lyons, a larger government agency that includes 17 area towns and has over 115,000 residents. He chairs the Township’s board and strives to foster good relationships with elected officials among all the communities the Township includes.

Outside of his work in local government, Christopher Getty serves as president of Getty Insurance, a second-generation agency that dates back to 1972. He is licensed to provide property, casualty, health, and life insurance. Mr. Getty holds a bachelor of arts degree in corporate communications from Eastern Illinois University.
